     Div IX Class 17-2 + 19-2. 25 any. 12 buttons with flowers only (no animals or birds); 12

     buttons with birds (plant-life okay), and at least 1 button with birds and flowers. No more

     than 2 studios/collectorsf. OSBS  $5-3-2

 

2. Past Presidentfs Award:

     Div. L- IX Classes 17-0 thru 20-24. 25 Any. Pictorial nouns representing the letter gRh.

     Proper and compound nouns allowed. Label each button as to the gRh representation.

     Limited to those who have not won a blue ribbon in this category. OSBS $5-3-2

 

3. Departed Membersf Award:

     Div IX Class 20-4. 25 any. Assorted materials specialized to children of any age. No adults

     allowed. Limited to 2 studio/collectorsf. OSBS $5-3-2

 

4. Velma Owens Award:

     Div. IX Class 23- 1. Various.  Backgrounds assorted. See page 62 of 2011-2012 NBS Blue

     Book. Label background materials.  Velma Owens Memorial, $25-15-10

12. Div III Class  12-2.2.  30 Any. Acrylic resin "Jelly Jewels." Must be luminescent with chatoyancy (no swirls or color interruptions.)  I. Christensen $5-$3-$2  

 

13. Div III Class 23-10.3. 30 any. Realistics.specialized to snap-togethers. (Since this is written to the realistics class, all materials are included, and the different materials will give extra credit.) SOBC $5-3-2

 

 

14. Div. VI Non-competitive. 25 Any. Buttons with one or more pastes/rhinestones. A Morgan $2.00 to each entry.

 

15. Div. VI Non-competitive. Refer to page 3 of the NBS 2011-2012 Blue Book. (Will allow entries as space available on the racks after all other entries are hung.)

20. Div IX Class 1-0 to 15-5. 25 any. Assorted materials specialized to buttons with tulips. May be with other flowers, people, animals, etc. Tulip does not have to be prominent. Tulip borders or backgrounds allowed. D. Ford $5-3-2

 

21. Div IX Class 1-1 + 12-7.4.1. 25 any. Buffed celluloid or synthetic polymers. The buttons with the technique of buffing away color to reveal body color underneath. Type of polymer not to be considered. CBC $5-3-2

 

22. Div IX Class 3-0. Diminutive and small. 30 buttons. No less than 10 of each size. China assorted. Must be labeled with number and description using the NBS Guidelines for Collecting China Buttons. Unlisted buttons must be noted. CBC $5-3-2

 

23. Div IX Class 3-4.4. Small. China stencils. Label pattern number and mount in order using the NBS Guidelines for Collecting China Buttons. EBC $5-3-2

 

24. Div IX Class 6-0. Small. Black glass assorted. Must be labeled and mounted in class order. No studio/collectorsf buttons. P Mathes $5-3-2

 

25. Div IX Class 6-6.3. 25 any. Black glass imitating fabric. Decorative finish okay. No OME. No studio/collector buttons. EBC $5-3-2

 

26. Div IX Class 6-8. 30 any. Black glass limited to squares and modified squares only. May have rounded corners, scalloped edges, or cube shapes. No studios/collectorsf. D. Ford $5-3-2

31. Div IX Class 17-5.6, 18-7, 18-11 +18-12. 25 any. Horses and equestrian equipment. Breeds not important. May include humans. Must include a horsefs head. OCBC $5-3-2

 

32. Div IX Class 17-5.8. 20 any. Swine family. Pigs—wild and/or domestic. B. Gilbert $5-3-2

 

33. Div IX Class 18-5. 25 any. Claws,  hoofs, feet, and paws May include shoes only if foot (or  hoof in horseshoe) is in shoe.  (No hands) OCBC $5-3-2

 

34. Div IX Class 18-12. Various. Unlisted objects specialized to door hardware. May include locks, padlocks, keys, hinges, knockers, and any other items associated with doors. B Gilbert $5-3-2

 

35. Div IX Class 18-12. 25 any. Knots and knot motifs. Spec to buttons depicting knots. Must be the focus of the button (or actual knot.) No studios/collectorsf buttons. Five must be actual knots. Identify type of knot if known (i.e. slip knot). CBC $5-3-2

 

36. Div IX Class 21-1. 30 any. Pictorial summary,best assortment of all classes, 17-20. Specialized to vegetable ivory. Mount in numerical order and label with class number. No more than 3 studios/collectorsfbuttons. A. Morgan $5-3-2

 

37. Div IX Class 22-1. 25 Any. Patterns assorted, specialized to transparent pink glass. Label patterns. SOBC $5-3-2

 

38. Div IX Class 22-1. 25 any. Patterns assorted. Assorted materials are secondary to pattern. Label pattern represented. Limited to 2 collectorsf buttons. Label studio maker if known. EBC $5-3-2

 

39. Div IX Class 22-1 and 22-2. 30 any. Patterns/Symbols specialized to Overall buttons with riveted-shanks as follows: 10 with stars, 10 hearts, and 10 other patterns or symbols. May be pictorial symbol, or verbal. No initials or monograms. Mount each section together. B. Heebner $5-3-2

 

40. Div L-IX Class 23-4. 25 any. Borders assorted. Label the borderfs name if you know it. No studios/collectorsf. Limited to novice collectors (individuals can decide for themselves whether they qualify.) See page 58 of the NBS Bluebook. Also refer to May, 1999 NBS Bulletin. R. Russell $3 per entry

 

41. Div L-IX Class 23-8.15 pairs. Any size mother daughter pairs. Spec to pairs identical except for size in assorted materials. All 15 pairs are free choice of size as long as the two buttons in the pair are not the exact same size. Some design elements may be omitted on the smaller buttons due to size constraints. Minimum of four different materials. Limited to those who have not won a blue ribbon in this category. CBC $5-3-2

 

42. Div IX Class 23-10. 30 any. Shapes assorted. Clear and transparent glass only. Six red (any hue); six blue (any hue); six green (any hue); six yellow-gold (any hue); six clear-colorless. No more than 2 studios/collectorsf buttons.. A. Morgan $5-3-2

 

43. Div IX Class 23-12. 14 groups of three (42 buttons, any size.) Specific types, unlisted. Specialized to matching trios. Assorted materials, with each trio of three buttons being  identical except for surface color. Color may be in the OME, the decorative finish, or the body of the button. Mount by group. Label material if known. P Mathes $5-3-2

 

44. Div. IX Class 23-12. 25 Any.  Specific types, unlisted. Specialized to assorted materials imitating wood, and/or leather.  Try for a balance, but no specific number of each required.  K. Kanter $5-3-2

 

45. Div IX Class 25-6.1.1. 30 any. Overall buttons. 15 identical pairs of riveted-shank buttons in two sizes. No size requirements as long as the two buttons in the set are different sizes. SOBC $5-3-2
